Wednesday was a regular date night for my husband and me, and we had 3 agenda for the evening: 1. book a Family Room for a Christmas Socials, 2. have a light meal at the mall and 3. watch a movie we have kept tab on. We were able to book the room but did not have the meal nor watch the movie we were excited to see instead we were SCAMMED by Aowa. What was even worst was that we were preparing to cut up the credit cards after we have paid off the final balance. My story is the same with all the Aowa scammed stories all over the internet, these are but few of those sites:
- TipidPC.com(pls. scroll down a little)
- Super SawSaw
- Official Website of the Republic of the Philippines>Forum>Reklamo
- google search: aowa scam
I realized I was scammed when I searched the internet and found no International affiliation and then all the scam stories unfolded before me. I am truly grateful for the hundreds of people who decided not to keep quiet but make their voices heard by posting their complaints so that I too decided to have my voice heard. Also I am grateful to my daughter for doing her own research and found this very important piece of document in the archives of DTI:
DTI-NCR Slaps Formal Charge Against Aowa and Homesonic
(http://www.dtincr.ph/news.php?id=12)
In this Department Administrative Order No. 7, Series of 2006 (DAO 7, 2007),
“The formal charge asks for the issuance of a cease and desist order, ordering the two firms to permanently cease and desist from continuing in its business operations. An administrative fine will also be imposed for each count that these companies may be proven to have committed.”
So what actions did I take against this unscrupulous, illegally operating company.
- Called HSBC credit card division toll free number (180018888555) for the cancellation of the transaction and stop payment to this merchant. The problem is that I was not the card holder and my husband was on travel. It was after several hours that he was able to contact the Credit Card Division of HSBC. He was informed that the cancellation has been posted however the items needed to be returned and from scammed stories I knew that Aowa may not honor the cancellation.
- During my waiting time, I filed complaints to DTI Online and DTI-ncr (consumer complaints)
- I emailed and texted a relative connected with DTI and this was her firm admonition “do not transact business with Aowa, we have closed many of their outlets“, I guess her advise came a bit late.
- Armed with the DTI DAO 7, 2007, printed copies of all your scam complaints and the Aowa stuff they gave me I went to Makro because the items were from their showroom in Makro even if the transaction was completed in the Mall. What a Rigodon!!!
- Before talking with the manager I first went to Makro management, unfortunately all supervisors were on seminar and talked with the head security. Good enough I guess!!! I told him they were leasing their space to an illegally operating company as I showed him the DTI DAO. And I asked him to assist me in case Aowa-Makro will not honor my request for cancellation.
- Calmly, I entered the Aowa showroom and asked to meet with the manager. After presenting him with all documents he told me he was in no position to accept cancellations but rather I can fill up a feedback form. I told him ” I really do not care, if you will not accept them, then I am going to leave all these items at your front door and have a Makro guard sign the document that I have left them at their doorstep” and take pictures that indeed the items were there.
- Finally, he accepted the items and prepared documents for the cancellation of the transaction and they even wanted me to sign an affidavit that I was not going to file a complaint against them. But the finality of the cancellation will come from the head office and that payments were made only on Friday!!! What was dubious about this final step was that they did not even have a computer and a printer and had no intention of giving me a copy of the cancellation!!!
- NOTE: While I was transacting the cancellation they were busy polishing and waxing the items I returned some of which I have used!!!
As I was completing the cancellation, my daughter was at the mall, hopefully she will share her experience. And she has set up a meeting with Mall management-Aowa- and the two of us.
The questions that came to my mind was: first) Why DTI local branch offices did not execute the DAO charge against Aowa and has allowed this company to operate in malls and even have a seemingly “legitimate personality” because of their presence in established malls. Second) Have the Malls not been provided a copy of the directive against this company to “cease and desist operation“Third) Why are they allowed to transact business with credit card companies, since they no longer have a legal personality as per DAO charge.
What can we do to stop their operation:
Show Mall management the DAO 7, 2007 for this is an illegally operating company!!! and other documents particularly the scam stories or go to DTI. Study the ruling on this case as the link above is just a summary of the entire charge.
Join me in emailing HSBC and other credit companies for they are coddling an illegally existing company and every mall in the country where Aowa is operating with the link to the DTI directive. They may not listen to a single email but with hundreds of us emailing them then we definitely will be heard. Remember that this case is now for EXECUTION of the DTI order.
i was scammed also earlier by aowa, stationed at greenbelt 1 in makati, and im having a sleepless night already… may I ask if the transaction was indeed cancelled. I did not take any of their items, as im having qualms abt it, but, stupid of me to sign the chargeslips… i can’t tell my husband yet, even to my parents, what happened… appreciate for your feedback, thanks!
Also, their distributor now is RMA Exhibitor Service. As of this writing, nasa Sta.
Hi May,
Sorry for taking so long to respond I was on a “grand vacation”. YES, transacation was cancelled. I was provided with the cancellation memo from aowa transacting bank to HSBC. By christmas time aowa was no longer in the mall.
Yesterday, I was at Makro, before reaching the entrance door, i was approach by the Aowa agent and told me lucky daw ako that day and marami p..while he was introducing to me mga items nila and napapansin ko na mga kasama nya.. . as if they’re making script sa mga sinasabi nila..sabi ko agad..It’s too impossible that they will just me the 3 products for free! Huh! So sabi ko, deretshan na nila sabihin sa akin ano drama nila..Hhmmm nakakadala mga games nila, mabuti nalang I was guided.. while mga agent nila, sobrang drama na, ako naman iniisip ko, imposible talaga promo nila ganun? Eh kahit na nga mag sale sa Mall, they have to be sure na hindi sila lugi..Eh sa promotions pa lang nila na ibigay lang sayo for free ang mga yun…bah..malaking amount na tinapon nila.
Thank God… hindi ako nagpadala…I just told them I will ask my sister first if ok ang AOWA..she just replied, HINDI NYA ALAM ABOUT THE PRODUCT HOW GOOD and what she heard is the negative feedbacks came from other people na na dramahan din nila. As a respect, kasi sabi ko, i’ll pass by after ko mamili sa Makro, so after that, dumaan ako and sinabi ko lang hindi ako kukuha.
Pero sana for them, maisip din nila, the more na gagawin nila yun, the more na bumabagsak name ng AOWA. Their approach and promotions are not good.
Paano nalang yung nadadala kaagad…Kawawa naman, di ba?
Totoo yan. Ewan ko bakit hindi nila ibenta like other appliances – bakit ganoong drama pa. Tayong mga shopper usually kung may planong bilhin we compare prices, quality etc. – karapatan natin yon. Good for you na hindi ko nadala. siguro for some iniisip na this must be really good products. Only to realize “di pala” later on.
just like you muntik na akong nabiktima.last november 1 when i was going out from white gold cebu ,their agent approach me and offer me their promo.at first i was delighted i was one of the choosen one but i realized that their trying to fool me when they ask for down payment and my credit card,i told them i want to pay them in cash this coming friday, november 6.yet their agent keep bugging me to pay in cash so that i can avail on another prize;that just the time i realize “ang pera d pinupulot kundi pinaghirapan” lalo na crisis tayo ngayon, dapat practical so i cancel my transaction with them.
My hubby and i were victims too of this Aowa Scam. Too foolish for us to have been deceived. We were on our way to MOA late Sunday evening to have a dinner, when we saw the SALE sign in Home Depot in Macapagal Ave. We’re moving to a new house this April, so I told my hubby to check if there are good furniture that we can purchase in advance. Then upon entering the area, there were couple of gays/girls who informed us that they will give us bag and will just get it in their store… since i’m not that snobbish and i think there’s nothing wrong with that, we went there and the rest is history… anyway, just want to hightlight that we dont have any intention of buying eventhough that gay told us that it’s sampaloc day and we’re the 7th couple to win from sampaloc and they’ll give us 3 appliances for free… they checked our card (which should be a big NO NO!) but they were so fast and i told them, you can check from BPI if we can avail of the 0% interest since we have an existing SIP transaction already… to late for us to realize that the supervisor requested for approval without our permission, and Viola, the transaction happened so fast without our consent…. i told my hubby that since that has been credited to our card already, better to get the items to make sure that we’re covered…. it was only the next day that we search the Aowa in the internet and we’re thankful that there are many victims who have shared their experiences with this company. Immediately, we consulted this to my lawyer cousins (which i should have been called during the time i was in the store), and my sister in law (who’s working in DTI).. and we’ve decided to do some actions… armed with the files downloaded from the internet, a formal letter of request for cancellation of transaction, acknowledgement receipt for the items that we will return and the reference number of our complaint to DTI, we went back to the store Tuesday, and gave them all our letters…. they acted so innocent, but there was no questions that were raised… it seems that they’re used to the idea of people bringing back the purchased items…. the sales rep even offered a handshake to us… which i’ve granted (i am really not so good in being a snob), but told them that what they’re doing is wrong… and the gays bid us “ba-bye”.. and i told them “lagot kayo..”… but they just said “nakuuu.. eh ganun talaga eh. ”
at least now, we’ve realized that we should have been more careful (which we are… i just don’t know what happened.. it came so fast… )..
i just hope that there will be an end to these people who some says are modern day theives…. huh!
and hope that more people will be careful and do not be afraid to stand and fight for your right..
it was only 6 days ago.. and i guess the transaction has been cancelled already.. we talked to aowa customer service, send them all the docs we have via fax.. filed a complaint to BPI for giving approval to AOWA personnel without our consent (plus they should have alerted already by many victims and yet they continue to transact with them.. worst is without the consent of the cardholder)… last night, we checked the status of our complaint and the BPI agent said that she can no longer see any transaction on that date with that amount..
Thank God!
I just could not fathom, how could this people continue to operate and fool people despite the DTI-memo and complaints. May araw rin sila!!! Parang silang walang ka-consenya consenya.
Hi.. sad to say.. my mom was one of the victims of this b*lls#it aowa thingy. we’re in the process of returning the items. Awhile ago, the customer representative said that we need to wait 3-5 working days to receive their management’s feedback. What a waste of time…
I also reported this issue with BPI. Unfortunately, they don’t entertain any cancellation orders coming from their card holders. It should be made by the merchant… WTF!!! Hellooo!! It’s a scam!!!
Patience.. patience and more patience….
If after a week and we don’t receive any feedback from them… sa korte na to.
today, i went to have to have my groceries in Puregold Sucat. Upon leaving, a gay asked me if i want a free bag. So, i said yes, everybody want anything for free right? So he take me along and we reach the AOWA booth. Then she asked me to fill up something and then shouted that since i am from paranaque then i won their promo. Bottom line, i purchased the product and it comes with some freebies too. As i reached home, i was bothered coz i know that i can buy the same goods for less than the amount that i bought them. So i search the internet and found out the scams about this. Can i return back the goods?? I paid it through credit card. how can i make the cancellation??? need help pls.
I have outlined in my blog how I successfully cancelled the credit card transaction considering na sa asawa ko yung credit card and he was out of town when I was dealing with these aowa people. Kaya it was doubly hard. Pero kaya mo yan kasi you are dealing with a company na tambak tambak na ang kaso at may cease and desist to operate na corporation.
Hi. I was victimized by this scam just recently. I have reported it already to DTI. The personnel told me that they will just send me a mail as to when I will be scheduled a meeting with them and the merchant. But that will be many weeks from now. Ask ko lang, if I report it to the mall management, do they have the authority to demand the merchant to cancel the transaction? I have sent also a letter to HSBC to put the generation of billing on hold, just don’t know what actions are they going to take to arrange this. Are they going to cancel it even without the merchant’s consent? please help…
Nakaka-awa kasi ang mga nabibiktima nila esp. mga elders (who are the best candidate to victimize coz they are polite at masyadong trustworthy sa strangers). My heart goes to the victims! May God give you strength to overcome this.
I was also scammed by this company! I purchased their product last Thursday, May 14, at a South Supermarket in Bulacan. I paid PHP48800 thru my credit card for the induction cooker and I got the homer theater and water purifier as “freebies”. But when I got home and checked the Internet for details about their brand (yes, I’m brand conscious kase), I never expected to see scam stories and numerous complaints filed against them! I and my hubby didn’t think twice and decided to return their products the next day. We went first to the Supermarket’s Customer Service to seek assistance. I printed the DTI charge filed against them and provided the Supermarket a copy. We were then assisted by their OIC. After endorsing us to AOWA, he left na rin and told us na kami na lang mag-usap ng AOWA about the settlement. I demanded for a reversal. I was told that reversal will happen Monday pa. I said no! I won’t leave their booth unless they do the reversal that same day. The AOWA OIC told us that reversal will be requested from their Manila office. Still I demanded to have it reversed that same day or at least give me an assurance that it will be reversed (like giving me a written document). After an hour of being an irate customer, they said they will reverse it within the day. I picked up later that day the reversal memo made with BPI.
The story didn’t even end from there. Last Saturday, May 16, I received a call from their Manager. He was asking me to inform the Supermarket that my complaint has been settled already. I refused to be involved. I told him, as far as I’m concerned, I’m already out of the picture should the Supermarket terminates their contract and ban them from operating within the Supermarket’s premises (yes, they were banned by South Supermarket 1 day after I filed my complaint!) I was even threatened by this “unprofessional” Manager with Visaya accent that if they will file legal proceedings against the Supermarket for terminating their contract, I will be included since I was the one who filed the complaint and he even told me that I violated a certain law (forgot about that RA law he told me) for reporting straight to the Supermarket’s management instead of approaching them first. Duh?! The nerve! How funny and pathetic they are! I told him to go ahead and file whatever they want to file against me or the Supermarket. I also didn’t like what he told me that I “tried to ruin their company’s name”. Di ko talaga napigilan magtaas ng voice. I have the facts with me. I told him if he is questioning the info I got from DTI’s website. Is he telling me that what I got from DTI were not accurate and reliable at all? He said that it should be erased from DTI’s website since there was already a closure to that case. I don’t believe him becase they were charged by DTI for the same sales strategy applied to me. At ayaw na raw nila na magkaron ulet ng Internet stories about them. Sorry but they are forcing me to do it! I even called DTI yesterday to confirm if AOWA has already settled their case. But I was told that for as long as their name or articles about them are posted on their website, the case has no closure yet. Sadly, when I went to Trinoma Mall yesterday afternoon, they also have a booth there! They seemed everywhere kahit established mall. By the way, as of this writing, the reversal to my credit card is not posted yet. I have the memo with me but I just want to make sure na nacancel na nga nila yung transaction dahil may memo sila na binigay. Help please?
since, everybody have concern about this scam, i just want to know if there is any possibility to return all items purchased to AOWA if its already 3-months ago? actually d p nman nggamit un iba items. Please reply if you can help or make any good suggestions. I didn’t know that this company have a lot of complaints and already have case.
Comments and suggestions is very much appreciated…
I was almost a victim of this scam too..thank God I texted my mom and she told me that it’s a scam..i felt trap by all the sales agents surrounding me so I texted my brother to help me out..I was really convinced by their speeches and all the congratulations and hand shakes..hay.. as in thankful talaga ako na d ako nagpadala sa kanila..
I really learned a lot from that experience. Sana lng ma stop na sila before they can scam more people
Hi there,
Can you please help me w/ this AOWA people. When my sister arrived from her vacation in canada we went directly in duty free pgpsok p lng nmin s entrance ehh kinuyog n kme ng isang bakla at 2 babae n sales agent nyang aowa n yan. sbe bbgyan dw kme ng free bags ayaw sana namin sila pansinin but sobrang kulit to the point n halos hatakin na nila kame sa showroom nila. Since being snob is not in our personality kht naiinis ehh pnagbgyan nmin sila ayun kesyo it’s our lucky day daw kse kpg bumili kme ng isa s mga products nila ehh meron kming free n mga items like the induction cooker, the juicer, the stainless n cookware etc..then last sunday we had a family emergency. We will need the money for my sister’s by pass and decided n ibalik n lng yung mgaproducts n aowa. I contacted them last tuesday but since now ayw p rn nila gwin yung reversal at kng ano ano png hinihingi nilang docs skn (they are even asking for a medical certificate of my sister pra dw 2 make sure n may skit nga sya!) i was almost shock alm nila n kakailanganin nmin every peso n mttpid nmin pra s operation ng sis ko (it’s a by pass operation) ehh ppgas2sin p nila ako pmbyad s med cert! at sbe p eh its upon d discretion ng upper management nila kng ppyagan n ibalik yung mga products nila (n hindi p nmn nggamit ni hnd p nga nbubuksan s box!) kumbaga gagas2s n ako s med cert pero hnd p rn sure n ppyag ang management nila n ibalik ko yung mga products at kng ppyag sila n maibalik yung mga products ehh ichacharge nila ako ng 5% ng price w/c is 2140 pesos! i’m soo frustrated and confused now. sna po mbgyan nyo ko ng advise naiiyak n ako d2 s ofis. isip ako ng isip s prob nmin s sister ko then e2 png aowa gnigipit ako. please po.. pahelp nmn po kse last friday p nmin sya bnili at nung monday p ko nkikipg coordinate s knila but til now ayw nila n ibalik ko yung mga products s knila.
my tita and I go to sm southmall, we were also invited by Aowa people, as they demo all the products I told my tita that I will go downstairs for a Yosi(^-^).When I came back my Tita already bought the Induction Cooker amounting to P48,800.00. Whooow….the price is not practical these days. So I talk to my tita why she bought it she told me that the induction cooker is good and there are additional items. In my mind I have doubt bec. I remember what I have seen in the internet before pero I didnt bother na kasi my tita really like the induction cooker….since then the Aowa induction cooker were used by my tita, magkatabi lng house namin and I saw the difference. It was convenient to use kasi some disgusting things in gas stove like baked spills, carbon build up were removed because of being a flameless stove. Maybe thats why their price is a bit higher but in exchange you can get convenience, safety and a lot more……My tita tried it and it was a good product…..(^_6)
today we also experience this aowa thing. they are now in home depot in san fernando pampanga. same story as the others you get 3 appliances amounting to almost 150000 for free just buy one of their other items with us the air purifier which is 48000.and promise them not to sell the products instead use them and endorse them to others as their means of advertising. but instantly i felt there is something fishy about the offer, aside from the fact that they are all gays, they are loud and already annoying making kulit if i dont have cash ,card is good, even worst i heard they are willing to come with us to our home and deliver it as well.C.O.D daw, then i said if i really won balikan ko na lang and i will think about the offer and then they told me baka wala na yung offer baka may iba daw na maka singit then i told them its ok, cguro hindi para sa akin then we left.now i searched for their brand instantly found their website and i even had second thoughts telling my hubby totoo ata yon, then while browsing i began to see these blogs of their scam. thanks by the way.why are these malls allowing these merchants? i’m planning of telling the home depot management about them.
Pangalawa, padalhan ang bawat mall sa buong bansa ng Aowa cease and desist to operate order na if found operating in the mall premises they will be penalized. Is it necessary for people to be victimized first before the concerned agency would do anything. Why could the action be preventive rather than post-operative.
I have purchased a lot of products from AOWA Electronics Philippines Inc. in their Tutuban Branch. I purchased Microwave Oven worth P45, 800.00 when i paid the amount using my card they gave me additional Vacuum clea, Water Purifier and Pressure Cooker. When I paid the amount i was confused confused, in short i have doubt with the products… paying that much. I used microwave oven i found it useful, it gave me more convenient just like me mom, having business and kids to supervise, specially in their studies… easily for me to prepare their food, meriendas…express cooking. Right now, water purifier… is useful to us. Then I decided to purchase another items at Mc Home Depot branch in Pasig. I purchase Induction Cooker amounting to P48, 800.00 then they gave me more additional items when they know that i am thier customer in Tutuban. They gave me additional Cookware Set, Dvd component and Multi-Cooker. I have nothing problem with the products… Induction Cooker is more conevnient to use… The products is good quality.
That is good to hear. I think the complaints is not with the products but the marketing style they are using which according to Director Pelayo uses “deceptive and unconscionable sales acts” http://www.dtincr.ph/news.php?id=12
Hence Director Pelayo charged this company to CEASE and DESIST OPERATION. I don’t know how else could this be interpreted.
I would surmise that the basis of such a charge would not be just from 1 or 2 but from hundreds who have filed complaints against aowa and continue to complain.
Have fun!!!
hello everyone
Hi thank you so much for posting this blog. You’ve been a great help. I was scammed just recently by AOWA at trinoma. Imagine, its been years after that DTI ruling was issued and they are till on the loose deceiving people! I used both credit card and cash to pay for the items. I was about to return them this morning but I am quite hesitant because I need to get back the cash I paid as well and not just to reverse the charges in the credit card. I could present a copy of the DTI ruling to BPI their transacting bank to reverse the charges. Do you think this is enough for them to reverse? I paid only 7K cash but its a hard earned money. My worry is that if I return the products based on what Ive read in other comments, I may get a reversal of my credit card charges but Im not sure if will get a refund of my cash. This thing causes me so much trouble already since I have to leave work just to talk to them and Im probably gonna have to take additional absences to talk directly to BPI. Kindly advise. Thank you so much!
Hi!
I have also purchased AOWA products. This happens when I go for shopping at Makro-Makati…I think that was a year of 2006. I was approached by AOWA sales personnel…handed me a voucher with picture of products… then another girl approached. She told me “Sir…try our new products this is good for your health”. I told them “No” I don’t need the items but these guys so insisted….then more guys have approached it seems so excited… I felt I was trap for the situation. Just to discourage them I told them I don’t have money to buy… beside I don’t need the items… so I walk away… I go for groceries.
After groceries, when I was about to go out… going toward the parking lot, I was approached again…. he told me “maybe you have time for us now Sir”….the guy immediately showed me the picture of AOWA products…. “Sir please try our products,,, we have a lot of products… let me allow to demo our products.” Another guy directed me toward their exhibit booth. So I give up… I go with them, by the way nothing would be loss this way. I was so surprised…everybody cheered up… these guys started to demo their products… they started told me…”Sir, you have these items, if you are going to purchase one (1) AOWA PRODUCTS.” I have always told them, I don’t need the items maybe some other times… but the guys so insisted he told me he will ask an approval of their Manager for additional items, out of curiosity I asked him if what would be the price of the DVD Component?, They showed me the price, he told me P/49, 800.00…Sir.” What???…It so expensive!!! but the girl told me the product was imported. Then another guy told me, If I purchase I can have an additional items. Just to convince me, they will give me and additional three (3) items…so they hurriedly demo the three items those were Microwave Oven, Massager and Pressure Cooker…in short they were able to convince me. After I paid using my credit card, another guy offered another product. He told me I have to purchase the Water Purifier; I can have an additional of 4 items because I was already their VIP customer now. I decided to purchase the Water Purifier worth P33, 800.00 just because of additional 4 items such as Cookware Set, Vacuum Cleaner, Sauna Machine and Convection Oven. In short, I paid the total amount of P83, 600.00 for 9 items…I feel lucky during that day because I brought home a lot of products.
For my disappointment, my family was not happy for my purchase. They told me a lot of negative feedback against AOWA, lot of complaints has been lodge to the authority. They told me to cancel the purchased I made with AOWA… FOR THESE I WAS SO UPSET! Every time I saw AOWA products I felt I was been deceived. Just to make sure if AOWA product is authentic which according to the AOWA sales agent all products were imported. I decided to use AOWA product. I decided not cancel the purchase inspite I felt my decision has ruin my reputation and credibility.
However, after long usage I found no problem with the products even my wife or family member satisfied using AOWA products. Now, my family has made no comments after using AOWA products.
My friends told me, I was deceived by trickery sales strategy of AOWA. They said, I was a VICTIM of this SCAM! I felt I made a shameful decision in my life…..I received a lot of negative commentaries from my friends, relatives, just of because according to them I was victim of deception….they told me to search the Internet about and you will know, It sounds, questioning my professional capability… I was so upset.
UNTIL one (1) day my friend who gave me those negative commentaries about the purchase of AOWA products, he told me “I was still a LUCKY PERSON”. He told me he was a real victim of SCAM!”. I surprisingly replied him: “What?!??…what do you mean? You are victim of SCAM? How come? I was so curious? How this guy could be a victim of a SCAM?
He told and narrated to me his problem….he lost his money for nothing…investment for nothing…not only a small amount but it involve a big money…because of sweet talk of a very professional agents…he was deceived…
I learned from him that he was encouraged and convinced to be member as part of the enterprenuership, which has freedom from daily timecards, can become MILLIONNAIRE simply being an investor. Accordingly, to become a member you must have to invest… There were so many SUCCESS stories has been shared. In short, he invested a big amount of money to attend his ambition of being MILLIONNAIRE someday.
Until sad news has been aired against the companies, there were so many VICTIMS said they were been SCAMMED by this company. Their hard end money has gone for nothing…. Now, my friend realized that I was not scammed by AOWA….I have the products, the BIG VALUE of my investment.
Now, even my families said, I made the right decision. I have now enjoyed using AOWA products, the VALUE of my INVESTMENT.
I heard from news, read in newspaper and saw it in TV about the company told by my friend. VICTIMS have made an INVESTMENT without anything in return…just ONLY promises of MILLIONS…what happen? Who is the real victim….?
I firmly said I made the right decision….I found satisfaction using AOWA Products….the VALUE of my INVESMENT. I purchased another product at AOWA Branch in Harizon Plaza, the INDUCTION COOKER worth P48, 800.00 with additional 4 items…I would say this is my decision….because i like and i need this products.
Thank you,
Hi Ronald,
So what is your problem. Why don’t you also put up a blog for “Happy Users of Aowa”. As for me, I will not pay of my hard earned money items that are grossly expensive. and not even half as useful. I am basically a homemaker and I used to own a Lagermania oven that cost me about 12T in 1994. It had 3 burners and an oven. With it I baked my children’s birthday cakes, pasta, and so many many more. Last year, I had to retire it after long years of service and replaced it with a 2 burner gas stove also Lagermania. You know how much it cost 2T vs your 48, 000+ induction cooker. I even saw a one burner induction cooker at a mall that cost merely 4T.
I also tested that induction cooker of aowa. You know it does not even cook rice. That morning my family had to eat half cooked rice because that super expensive INDUCTION COOKER would not do its job!! On the day of my grand fiasco another induction cooker was being repaired after just a few days use and after I returned all my items another young lady was bringing her Mom’s induction cooker kasi sira. 48T for an item that is worst than a rice cooker.
The BLACK LISTING of aowa happened way way ahead of my complaint and it was because many had their voices heard.
I was reviewing the comments and out of the 24 comments there were two stand out comments who LOVE the aowa products. You know what, both comments have one IP address – either they came from the same computer or from the same location.
Alis kayo diyan at magtrabaho kayo sa lehitimong negosyo na walang order to CEASE and DESIST OPERATION.
the same strategy applies to some newly opened or not so popular hotels. where they need to be as agressive as possible in their marketing.
they will give out free stay to the hotel. but will then offer a priced package to be able to use more amenities, buffet lunch, etc…
Dear Elena,
Korek ka dyan! About 3 years ago may tumawag sa bahay looking for my sister dahil may offer silang free overnight stay sa Days Hotel-Tagaytay. Sabi ko hindi interesado ang sister ko and she’s not at home. Nainis sa akin yung sales agent bakit daw ako ang nagde-decide for my sister (kaya nga sister eh! hehehe … at alam kong scam din yan!) Anyway umabot sa di maganda ang usapan namin and she hung up on me. I was able to trace her company number (condominium sa Makati) and she refused to talk to me… so I talked to another staff and warned them na isusumbong ko sila sa DTI pag hindi sila tumigil sa kalokohan nila (wala silang DTI approved promo).
And to Nanay, tama po kayo.
So kinausap nila at kinukumbinse.Pinakita dn ung mga items na pinakita sken, sinabi ung prize and ung condition kumg pno maclaim ung prize.Pwede dw credit card.
Thank you for sharing your story
was almost a victim. my story is here:http://rants.henyo.com/2009/07/almost-became-aowa-victim.html
The aowa scam has been getting a lot of attention even to Noli de Castro. Earlier this day on DZMM radio, he and his partner focused on the growing scam about Home Depot, Aowa, and the “others” (just too many to memorize). They wanted to see for themselves how the scam works so they went with the current and even paid for the “appliances”.
Noli de Castro is calling all of us to complain against this scam by going to the DTI website to file a complaint. All victims, you have 2 years to file a complaint. Whatever you do, do not withdraw or give up the complaint cause a successful complaint will drive them out of business.
I’ve heard in their talk that the salespeople there are heartless. These are what they do:
-They will assess your buying power (ask if you have a credit card/OFW family member, and if you roam seldomly at the malls, giving them the idea that you don’t know the actual price of the appliance)
-Gives you deceptive promos (free if you buy products at least P25,000)
-Offer you an overpriced yet faulty product (there is no home water purifier in the market that will effectively clean out tap water, yet aowa sells it for P28,000 and is nothing more but a simple water filter that cannot clean effectively. Your stomach will still be filled with bacteria, chlorine, and heavy metals)
-use men’s weakness (salesladies may even flirt with a male customer to convince him)
-prevent your escape (salespeople will corner you)
-escort you to the ATM for withdrawal (giving you the “conscience” that you are obligated to pay them).
-They think buying their products is more important than your life (sales-talked a person on giving up his money for chemotherapy for their appliance)
We knew this scams long before our business fell to the chinese in Baclaran. This is just one of the few “legal scams” that exist in the philippines today. Another is a fusion of “pyramiding” and “sales” in which you are enticed to recruit more people rather than to sell their products. A company who uses this tactic is DXN. It’s legal cause its profit is not merely based on “networking” cause they have “products” (in reality it doesn’t sell well now, I’ve seen this type of business expand and fall so quickly in Baclaran) and they have been featured on prominent TV shows like Jessica Soho (If I remember it right… or was it Korina… whatever she is, I hope she regrets it). This kind is a multi-level marketing scheme/scam that used networking but still focus on the product. Now, it is nothing more like pyramiding cause they focus more on recruiting more people. see http://www.quatloos.com/mlm/mlm.htm
we hope that this kinds of business will be illegal soon… sigh… and I hope this hope is not false hope.
The store where Kabayan Noli was scammed by AOWA is already closed. Home Depot said that the lease of Aowa in other stores will no longer be renewed.
The Aowa and Homesonic case is still pending with the Court of Appeals.
I was able to view only the tail end of Noli’s show and I heard him say that they will close down the 40 AOWA stores all over the country – or something to that effect. (he he he wistful thinking!!!).
Good luck! I hope this will put closure to all victims.
Hi,yes we wer also a victim last May 6,2009 at Aowa Macapagal Ave branch.Same tactic with VP Noli de Castro.I bought the water purifier so we dont have to buy purified water which cost us 6hundred a month.they gave us freebies like induction, cook ware n juicer.I also want to return the items ,but we already used d purifier n induction cooker. The card that i used was BDO.I hope that i could make a refund from BDO for the 2 months they took as my monthly due for Aowa, coz i had installment for 12 months. Makonsencya namn kayo…
Gotta love Aowa!
Three things that struck me after I read Noli de Castro’s experience with appliance maker Aowa:
1. Men are more gullible when it comes to special appliance deals.
2. The Aowa reps had the balls to pitch to the Vice President. Who cares if the DTI issued a closure order against the company for violating the Consumer Act? Sure, the case is still under appeal. But you don’t help yourself when you sell to the second highest government official. Ballsy move. Go Aowa!
3. The fact that the Aowa reps “showed photos of themselves with other famous buyers like Sen. Edgardo Angara and former basketball star Alvin Patrimonio.” I assume the head office provided the photos and it was a different group who handled the transaction.
This is a company that has received numerous complaints since 2001. The head office could have stepped in to avoid the extra attention. Yet, they still pursue the deal regardless of the repercussions. You have to give them props for that.
For those not familiar with the story, your favorite VP was convinced by Aowa reps to purchase several items when he was at Home Depot’s Macapagal Avenue outlet. The reps informed VP that he would get free items if he buys a P48,500 microwave. And he did. VP is now bitching and asking Home Depot owners to stop selling Aowa products.
Just an idea, why not ask the Aowa reps to represent the government during peace talks? Or ask the reps to form a management agency? Such a waste of talent
Attention to all people concerned: Aowa hasn’t stopped their so-called scam. They only changed their names to FLAMELESS CONCEPTS and still set up their “booths” in different malls like Trinoma. In fact, they will be there until the end of the month as the “supervisor” herself would say. BEWARE everyone! They will also set up another exhibit in Greenbelt by next month.
As of now, we weren’t able to cancel our transaction with them since they said they have to wait for their head office’s approval on Monday. I hope they will cancel it or else…they will have to face the consequences of their actions.
Furthermore, I have just called BPI to tell them about my dilemma and they said they can’t do anything about it since their registered name is RME. What kind of “company” is that -using different names?!
WE, consumers, should definitely defend our rights..and we shouldn’t even trust these credit card companies since they themselves are vulnerable to accept such illegitimate firms. Instead of addressing our concern, they lean more on the party which is favorable to them. This has to stop and we should ALL act upon it.
Hai guys,
I’m really fusturated with all of this comment on Aowa product. Its look like, I also become their victim yeasterday. When I went to the Mall at Brunei, this guys from Aowa approached me with thier product.
At first, he only give a paper of their promo product. I just took the paper then plan to go home. Suddently, he drag me by saying “please, could you just fill in the form to get your free item and to support our product!” I couldnt resist since, he mention free item and only a name!
When I went to their show room, they try hardly in explaining the function of their product. Then, they gave me the free bottle with voucher inside saying that I will “Free 2 item, which is Aowa Cooker and 12set cooking pot”
They say with happy face that I’m a lucky guys since no one being win like this previously. Since, I’m in such a hurry therefore I’m not thinking deeply. I just go with the flow.
Since the vocure is only for within malaysia, this guys called their bos for conformation either I also could get this free item. I also talk to the bos through the phone and he mentioning to me that I can take the 2 free items as long as I dont sell it and buy one of their product which all of their product cost more then $1400 brunei dollar each item.
Belive me, I did really hard to escape saying that I dont have that much money to pay at them. But still, this guys try their best to fool me saying that I’m wasting my luck…
As I mention before, my mind set is not focus enought at that time, so I go with the flow by giving them my Visa card, which I mention to them that I dont have enough money to debit it for full payment on buying Air Purifier (B$1400). They succesful in debiting my card for B$770. However, They dont gave me the 2 free item unless I pay the rest of it (which is another B$1400).
So, could you guys give me advice on this matter. Did I have to pay the rest of it or should I stopped till there. I manage to bring the air purifier at home.
I was in Home Depot Ortigas when I was approached by a guy who invited me to their store to see their products. Since my mom was a victim of AOWA (she was with me at that time), I was aware of their tactics and decided to play along.
Now, i forgot the brand, but the guy said they were affiliated with AOWA (which, by the way, still has a shop in home depot ortigas). I was really planning to buy a new LCD TV, and told the sales guy that, and he proceeded to show me their own LCD TV for sale. Initially, his price was 79,000 for a 32″ LCD TV. I have already looked at mall prices and also online for a good deal, so I knew at the time that 79,000 bucks for a 32″ LCD TV was nuts. So, still playing along, I told the sales guy that I can get a TV like the one he was pitching for about 25,000.
THEN, the AOWA pitch started coming in. He said that they will throw in a bunch of speakers (2.1 home theater system lang!) and a DVD player for the same price. Still, I said that I can get all of that for less than what he was asking from me. So, the guy started becoming more conversational.. asking where I work, where I’m from. When I said that I was from Santa Rosa Laguna, he suddenly turned to one of his colleagues and asked a question. He said to me that my place is one of the places with an untapped market, and that they are willing to give away the LCD TV for FREE as long as I don’t cover the brand logo on the TV. He said that it was going to be a marketing thing, so that people get to know their brand. I was thinking, how the hell are they going to see my TV in the first place if it was sitting in my living room? Anyway, he said that they were willing to give it away, AS LONG AS I purchase the damn speakers and DVD player for 60,000.
As soon as I heard that, I laughed and said “That’s b*llsh*t.” loud enough for everyone in the store to hear. I wanted this old lady who was in the store with me (but was there when I came in) who seemed to be easily drawn to another offer to hear what I said. After that, I left. After walking about 12 feet away from their store, an AOWA guy naman tried the same pitch. hahaha.
So guys, it’s not only AOWA that does it. I think since AOWA is in hot water right now, they’re expanding their ranges to other products that haven’t gotten much attention. So all I have to say is -BUYER BEWARE-!!! Stay smart!
I’ll share my experience with them. Una, they called me up thru landline and telling me a code and instructing me to go to their branch and claim the prize corresponding to the code given to me. So I told myself, sige patulan ko ito malapit lang naman ako sa gale and may bibilhin rin naman ako.
I went to galleria, headed to home-sonic and told the code to the people there. They have me sitted at their ” precious un-branded massage chairs ” while endorsing / telling me where the hell did their store came up from. After endorsing or yet, telling me stupid and non-sense stuff finally, they gave me a list which contains the code and the prize. Guess what, I got an old door alarm, yes an alarm thats worth is just 30 bucks. At least the packaging is stapled ( para hindi daw halatang luma ) .
After getting the alarm they told me that there’s this thing on the code that made me have the chance of having their precious un-branded products ( oven, massage chair, beauty thing, massage thing ) And they told me that, if I would pay them 50k they could give me, all of those. ( what I said was – on my mind at least – what the fcuk is their problem ) 50k is a large amount of money!
Sayang daw, its a great opportunity daw, ganun ganun. Di ko masabi, ano kayo tanga? Eh kung kayo kaya. . Anyways to cut the story short. I went to galleria and claimed my old door alarm, well atleast its still working until now.
Eto naman, para di mashado OT:
– Aowa once tried to lure my dad, they told him that if he could give or let them borrow his credit card + his i.d. they would give their items. Then I blurted out to them that what items could they possibly give? So they let us go to their showroom and showed us bunch of expensive craps, which I dont need or should I need it, I could get it for a much lower price. I then stated that we`re not interested and we will never be.

We have “almost” the same stories of AOWA sales rep deception.
Right now, we are on the process of transaction cancellation. It’s been 2 weeks ng nangyari yung transacton.
Question: How can I be sure of the reversal/void of the transaction since they were manually processing the credit card?
They were also asking me for the cancellation charge of 5%.
I need advise please!
Learn to say “NO!” sa deceptive practices. Take time to think about the offer (na hindi naka-buntot ang sales rep kahit saan ka pumunta). At marami-rami pang iba akong natutunan sa nangyari sakin. Haaay…
We have our own responsibility, just like what I did….I said no and thats it!…. don’t be fooled. Sometimes its our fault kasi naging interesado tayo sa offer nila kaya binibigay natin ang credit card and in the end magsisisi tayo. Think only for your necessities and not luxuries. Be a street smart citizen. This will be stop if no one get fooled.
Ako din po nakakuha ng Aowa Products, i paid 42,800 pesos sa water purifier, i used my credit card from abroad.

Thanks to nanaypower (Babet) for the encouragement.
I’ll keep this forum posted hanggang matapos ang transaction ko sa unlawful merchant na ‘to.
God bless us all!
I was also a victim of this AOWA scam at duty free shop manila, i bought it for 48,000 cash plus 3 items free and until now i haven’t use it, dinisplay ko lang. if thier is many complain and this company was not approved by the DTI then this product is not a good quality.

Hi. Really nice information on MLM Leads. I discovered your nice blog while exploring bing. For the past few days I’ve been attempting to discover more. Especially anything to do with the actual lead generation or companies making them. I’ve heard it all and my best friend proceeds pressing her recent lead system craze on me. So I am glad I found you. Bye!
I am malaysian,
I was also scammed by them.
They told me first that they only want me to give comment on their product, but suddenly they have lucky draw and I won discount for their 3 product. the different is really big( 3 product- rm6500 for only rm3000) luckily I dont have credit card, but rm500 from my ATM card already been given to them as a deposit..damn….so I get back to the store, and they say I can take back money, so I exchange it for the goods worth rm349. I loss rm150, But at least I dont loss another rm2500
This is the warning for others, dont trust sweet and seductive seller that tell you that they only want your comment on their product, you might face same problem as I am.
please help me too…me and my parents seems like one of the victim by AOwA just yesterday , after being curious of me to research about this product when i get home..this time i didnt sleep yet cos of doing thorough research before we will go back to the store later with my brother and his friend(they are PRESS)..here in CDOC Limketkai Center ….still AOWA store exist..i want our money back please help me..seems like the product wont be trusted as i realized it and after reading all about peoples complaint and so our VP and about its being padlock by DTI.
I didn’t all about this till i research how much is the regular price of those items, if its true or not..Seems like our stories are same same as yours. Their strategy. Thank God i found this website from looking how much it cost. At first i thought this site will give me the prices of the items. Till i found out all about those negative feeback after reading all the blogs. So then i try to research about our VPs story…OMG I can’t imagine we are being one of their victims…we paid CASH…tsk tsk tsk…
The scammers AOWA came to Indonesia Batam to scam. Something has to be done about these.
I paid cash of 1,000 USDollar plus additional cash Pesos equivalent to almost 50k. My product is still in the box can I still refund my money? Please help.
